Counseling Interventions

NOUS Counseling & Art Therapy offers a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can express their inner feelings through counseling as well as the creative processes that will assist clients to holistically work through various emotional distresses.

Please note that clients do not have to be professionally trained artists in order to participate in an art counseling activity.

Artistic equipment needed for counseling is provided by NOUS.

Counseling through art focuses on the process, rather than the final work that is produced during a counseling session.

NOUS Counseling & Art Therapy offers both long term and short term interventions for clients.

I offer individual, couples and group counselling for adults and adolescents (from the age of 14).
I accept self-referrals as well as referrals from other health professionals. LGBTQI+ friendly.
Some of the difficulties which I treat include (but are not limited to):

  • Anxiety-related difficulties
  • Anger Management
  • Bereavement
  • Boundary Setting
  • Communication skills
  • Coping with difficult emotions
  • Relationship challenges
  • Trouble adjusting to life changes
  • Trauma
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Stress and Burnout
  • LGBTQI+ problems

The main focus during counselling is to assist people to understand their emotions, thoughts and actions more deeply, specifically through the creative process and to encourage people to be kinder to themselves in the face of difficulties/challenges. The essential part of therapy is self-discovery and self-exploration and that this enables growth and a better understanding of oneself. This self-awareness will promote healing and personal growth. It is my belief that, by working together with a client, we can identify problematic and dysfunctional emotional and behavioural problems and make the changes necessary to lead to a more productive and less stressful life.

I work closely with Steven Kaplan, a Clinical Psychologist situated in Highlands North.
