Counseling Interventions

NOUS Counseling & Art Therapy offers a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can express their inner feelings through counseling as well as the creative processes that will assist clients to holistically work through various emotional distresses.

Please note that clients do not have to be professionally trained artists in order to participate in an art counseling activity.

Artistic equipment needed for counseling is provided by NOUS.

Counseling through art focuses on the process, rather than the final work that is produced during a counseling session.

NOUS Counseling & Art Therapy offers both long term and short term interventions for clients.

NOUS offers individual, couples and group counselling for adults and adolescents (from the age of 14).
NOUS accepts self-referrals as well as referrals from other health professionals.

The main focus during a counselling session is to assist the individual to understand their emotions, thoughts and actions more deeply, specifically through the creative process and to encourage people to be kinder to themselves. The essential part of counselling is self-discovery and self-exploration and that this enables growth and a better understanding. This self-awareness will promote healing and personal growth. It is our belief that, by working together with a client, we can identify problematic and dysfunctional emotional and behavioural problems and make the changes necessary to lead to a more productive and less stressful life.

NOUS works closely with Mr. Steven Kaplan, a Clinical Psychologist situated in Highlands North.
